A silly rumor that Mormons have horns has been traveling around the Southern and Eastern United States for over 100 years now. Legend has it that this rumor was started by a missionary named J. Golden Kimball, who was a missionary in the South at the height of the KKK. The missionaries had to hold meetings in the forest at night to avoid persecution.
Anyway, at one of these meetings the KKK showed up planning on tarring and feathering the Mormons. J. Golden apparently scared them away by yelling out "We Mormons have horns and we're going to gore the hell out of you if you get any closer." Well, the mob ran off but now we're still stuck with people thinking Mormons have horns. I don't understand how anyone could believe something so silly! :)
So, in short, Mormons don't have horns (obviously... they're just people) but that's what "Mormon Horns" are.
