What are sects of Sikhism?

Sikhism as such does not have braches. There are whats know as the Tat Khalsa, or those that follow the Sikh Rehat Maryada (Sikh Code of Conduct) as sanctioned by the Akal Takht (Sikh body responsible for Temporal affaires), and the SGPC (the Sikh body that looks after Sikh Gurdwara's).

There are variations on this by other Sikh groups such as

1) Dam Dami Taksal

2) Raroanwale

3) Akhanf Kirtani Jatha etc

Sikhism generally speaking do not have any specific branch as, if I may say, we see in Christianity or Islam. Most Sikhs believe in the Ten Gurus and the Guru Granth Sahib. There is only one who call themselves Namdharis, they have a human guru beside the Ten Gurus Of Sikhs and Guru Granth Sahib. Otherwise, All Sikhs adhere to same Spiritual and Philosophical ideas laid down by Ten Sikh Gurus and is present in Guru Granth Sahib, only difference are in the life style and individual views.

Sikhism as a religion don't have any sect but there are differences in the lifestyle of the Sikhs.

Sahaj Dhari are Sikhs who are clean shaved and have cut their hair.Sahaj Dhari have no restrictions on their lifestyle.

Kesh Dhari are Sikhs who keep their hair, don't cut them at all. Sikh men who are Kesh Dhari have turban and beard as they don't cut them but their lifestyle can be same as Sahaj Dhari.

Amrit Dhari are Sikhs those who have baptised themselves and now would not cut their hair, would not eat meat killed in a ritualistic manner (halal, kosher, etc.), would wake up early in the morning and read and contemplate on God's Prayer and put their efforts toward living life as instructed by the Sikh Gurus.

Nihangs are Sikhs who live their life much more like Sikh used to live during the times of Guru Gobind Singh JI.

BUT all of the above mentioned categories has nothing to do with the ideas of GOD,and the authority Sikhs believes in.The rituals,practices, philosophies remains the same but the lifestyle differs owing to the differences in the commitment.Therefore, Sikhism is also consider to have a feature of 'Multi Level Approach" where though a Sikh should always aspire to be Amrit Dhari but it doesn't have to happen the day a person is born.

There do happen to have one sect if can be consider a sect called Nam Dhari who happen to follow and believe in living Guru as they have one. The historical origin remains the same but instead of following the scripture as the Ultimate authority they believe in Human Guru and thus goes out of Sikhism.

Sahajdharis and Udasis are two examples of different sects of Sikhism. Many sects are not recognized as orthodox by most Sikhs.
