There are many examples of repentance in the 5 books of Moses. One that comes to mind is when G-d is about to destroy Soddom and Gemorrah, and He tells Moses he won't if there are as many as 10 righteous people there. The word He uses for righteous includes those who sincerely repent.

It is a traditional Jewish teaching that sincere repentance can "wipe out" the effects of all but the worst 3 sins (murder etc).
