In the Hindu Caste System there are four main castes ; Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra.

Brahmans are the pious, learned, scholars, preachers

Kshatriyas are the warriors, rulers and Administraters

Vaishyas are the businessmen, traders, bankers, agriculturists and industrialists

and Shudras are artisans, workers and servants

All these main castes have many sub-castes in each class.

later they added another one called the untouchable

untouchable were the ones handling garbage and dead animals

CASTES AND VARNAS

Non Hindus believe that Castes and Varnas are the same.

In Hinduism there are more than 3000 Hindu castes and about 25, 000 sub castes.

Brahmana, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra are Varnas and not Castes.

Untouchables are Shudras who refuse to accept the Varna system.
