The most important elements in Acts 8:26-39 are as follows (in my opinion).

1) Regardless of a persons position, everyone is in need of Jesus Christ. The Ethiopian Eunuch was rich, royal, & religious.

2) Unsaved people (those that have not believed on Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour) cannot receive the things of God because they are foolishness to them due to the fact that they are spiritually discerned (I Corinthians 2:14). This is why the Eunuch didn't understand the prophecy.

3)After understanding the scripture the Eunuch wishes to be baptized, but in order to be baptized Biblically there must first come salvation. That is why Philip says in vs. 37 that he must first believe. Without salvation baptism is nothing than a dunk in the water.

4) They came up out of the water. Baptism is supposed to be done by immersion. Not by sprinkling or pouring. The greek word for Batpize is baptizo, which means to immerse (to put completely under the water.
