Several verses command people not to judge or be critical of others but it depends on the translation whether it uses the term 'judge' or 'criticize'.

The KJV and NIV use the words "do not judge others" in Matthew 7:1-2, while the Amplified Bible interprets this also as criticizing others which is the essence of what it means. Likewise, look at Romans 2:1 in the Message translation. See also Luke 6:37.

Matthew 7:1-2 [Amplified Bible]

DO NOT judge [and criticize and condemn] others, so that you may not be judged [and criticized and condemned] yourselves.

For just as you judge [and criticize and condemn] others, you will be judged [and criticized and condemned], and in accordance with the measure you [use to] deal out to others, it will be dealt out again to you.

Romans 2:1 [The Message Translation]

Those people are on a dark spiral downward. But if you think that leaves you on the high ground where you can point your finger at others, think again. Every time you criticize someone, you condemn yourself. It takes one to know one. Judgmental criticism of others is a well-known way of escaping detection in your own crimes and misdemeanors. But God isn't so easily diverted. He sees right through all such smoke screens and holds you to what you've done.
