A member of the Catholic Church can became a saint, if he denies himself, takes up his cross daily and follows Christ. To do this, he must frequent the Sacraments going to confession regularly and Holy Communion as often as possible. He must pray daily, and offer up his day, his work, and his time for the advancement of the Kingdom of God. Each and every member of the Church is called to do this.

Unfortunately, most members of the Church can much more easily slide into hell through a weekly routine of getting along with the culture, trying to have a good job and friends, and going to Mass on Sunday (if he's not at the beach).

A Catholic, like every other human being can do either of these things, he has a better chance at becoming a saint and going to heaven for the simple reason that he belongs to the Church that Jesus Christ founded specifically to accomplish that, but sadly, given all those advantages, if he is not trying daily to both follow Christ and convert others, he shall end up in a worst place in hell than someone who didn't have those advantages.
