Since time immemorial the Jews greatest challenge is nothing but the quest to reach the promise land. The quest that someone would deliver them from slavery in itself is their biggest rather than being slaves in the hands of the Egyptians. Imagine that they've suffered too much because of the diaspora from time to time. And from the land of UR and Canaan to Goshen, to the wilderness and back to Israel and modern days which is the Holocaust. Even if finally a Jewish State was established, until now the fight to secure and maintain ownership of their land is still a big challenge.
