That would mean that God would have finished the re-making of the "formless and void" earth in three days... not six [as He really did]. The purpose of the re-make was to refit the earth to sustain man.

Man was the last thing He made on the final day, before He created and sanctified the next day -- the Sabbath.

In that event, God would have rested on the fourth day... and the world would be observing a "four-day week" today -- and a "fourth-day Sabbath" whereby men would be commanded to remember the four days of creation.

That's what could have happened.
