What decision made Christianity appealing to gentile coverts?

In Acts, we read that when Peter told the Roman centurion, Cornelius, about Jesus and that Jesus is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead, and that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sin.

This is the gospel message, and it was (and is) appealing to non-Jews (gentiles) as well as to Jews.

Peter also realised at that time that non-Jews did not have to take on the Jewish law in order to become followers of Jesus - specifically they did not have to be circumcised, or formally adopt the Jewish religion.

Circumcision was a real barrier for non-Jewish males to take on the Jewish religion, and Peter's decision meant that one of the obstacles for non-Jews becoming Christians was removed.

It is debated as to why the Gentiles found Christianity attractive, but many feel that it was because it had exactly what they were looking for. They were claimed to have lived in cynicism, and when Jesus preached about a higher power seeming human and wanted to promote love and compassion, it seemed to fit what they had been looking for all along.

Prior to that they had only a mixed bag of doctrine and manufactured miracles, usually all put together to provide either a person or group of persons some wealth or political power. The Apostles were not allowed to take a begging bag with them. The taught the gospel, performed miracles, and took nothing from the people for their works. Paul was a tent maker and worked his craft as he taught the gospel.
