Noah was a righteous man who lived amongst wicked and unrighteous people in his time. The Bible said that the imagination of man's heart at that time was continually wicked - Genesis Chapter 6 verses 1 - 8. Noah became a hero because he obeyed God completely and carrying out the instructions on building an ark that kept him and his immediate families and also 2 pairs of every species of animals on earth because God had decided to destroy the entire world with a Flood. The sacrifice Noah offered after the flood receded made God to establish a covenant that He would never destroy the world again with Flood because of man's sins. God used a rainbow as the sign of the covenant that whenever He sees the rainbow , He will remember the covenant. This made Noah a hero. For more information read the book of Genesis chapter 6, 7, 8 and chapter 9.
