Rahab explains exactly what she knows about the God of Israel in the following verses.
Joshua 2:9-11: (NIV): 9 and [Rahab] said to [the spies], "I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. 10 We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed. 11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone's courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.
Rahab is not related to god, but to Joseph.
Rahab hid the spies who were sent by Joshua.
simply because she feared the God of Israel and knew that He was the God in heaven above and on earth beneath. (Joshua 2:9-11)
Rahab is a biblical figure. Her story is found in the Old Testmament of the standard Christian Bible, Joshua 2.During the time that the Children of Israel were conquering Jericho, Rahab, a prostitute, took two spies into her house. She courageously hid and protected them from her king allowing them to escape back to Joshua to make a report of the land and defenses. She did this because she believed in the power of God. She wanted to save her family from death and destruction and thus put herself at great risk.Because of what she did for the two spies and God's people--the children of Israel--Rahab was important enough to be one of only four women mentioned in the New Testament ancestry of Jesus in Matthew 1.
Among strangers. Being a people separated unto God, Israel was confronted with the question of how to behave towards the stranger. The Lord who separated the Israelites from the Gentiles instructed Israel in this very matter. Deuteronomy 10:17-19 states, For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, mighty and awesome, who does not show favoritism, nor take bribes. He does justice for the fatherless and widow, and loves the stranger, in giving him food and raiment. You shall therefore love the stranger: for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Rahab was a prostitute who hid the spies sent by Israel to spy out Jericho so that they would not be killed. She hid them during a search made of her house and then let them down out her window outside the city wall so they could escape. She and her family were granted immunity when it came to Israel destroying the city of Jericho. She was remembered throughout history as having been a friend to Israel. She was also David's great-great grandmother.
Rahab
Rahab was the mother of Boaz by Salmon, Boaz had Ruth as his wife and begat Obed. Although this is stated as such in the NIV, the KJV is much clearer. The record is seen also in Ruth, regarding her marriage to Boaz and having son Obed. Rahab, the harlot, was in the ancestry of Boaz, of David and of Jesus Christ. This was because she turned to believe in the true God of Israel, while the rest of her city rejected Him.
I dont think she really heard the voice of God herself, but she did believe throught the two spies that Joshua sent to Jericho. She knew about God because she knew He was an all powerful being, that's when she asked the spies to save her and her family. But she did know about God before.
Israel's God is Jehovah. He is the only God in the universe. Jesus was Jehovah in the flesh.
Yes, Rahab is a perfect example of God's love and forgiveness and that He has no respect of persons. Anyone who come to him in faith & reptentance God will forgive and implant with the power of His Holy Ghost to live a transformed life of God's holiness.. Man looketh on the outward appearance, but God looketh on the heart.
