An alter of Baal that belonged to his father.
Jdg 6:25 Now it came to pass the same night that the LORD said to him, "Take your father's young bull, the second bull of seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it;
Jdg 6:26 and build an altar to the LORD your God on top of this rock in the proper arrangement, and take the second bull and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the image which you shall cut down."
God instructed Gideon to reduce his army to just 300 men to confront the Midianites. Initially, Gideon had gathered a much larger force, but God wanted to ensure that the victory would be attributed to Him rather than to the size of Gideon’s army. This smaller group of 300 ultimately defeated the Midianites using unconventional tactics.
Gideon tore down the pagan alter's of his father. However, Gideon is not considered a giant of faith since he continually showed doubt. In the end, he triumphed and set the enemy to flight by following God's plan for the battle.
The youngest in his family, also for God to tell him to take a servant with him if he was afraid suggest maybe in his teens.
The ephod in the story of Gideon was a sacred garment worn by priests for communication with God. It symbolized divine guidance and authority, showing Gideon's connection to God in leading the Israelites.
The angel conveyed a message to Gideon that he was chosen by God to save Israel from the oppression of the Midianites. The angel reassured Gideon of God's presence, calling him a "mighty warrior" despite his doubts and insecurities. This divine encounter encouraged Gideon to embrace his calling and led him to seek further signs from God to confirm his mission.
Gideon tested God with a fleece of wool before answering His call to lead the Israelites. In the Book of Judges in the Bible, Gideon asked God for a sign of dew on the fleece only, and then for it to be dry while the ground around it was wet. God provided both signs to confirm His message to Gideon.

The story of Gideon is God's choice to use the least in worldly stature to deliver the strength of His promises. Through faith and obedience Gideon is able to do what an entire unbelieving nation could not in defeating the enemy. Gideon glorifies God and in the process is glorified in his deeds. Gideon was a chosen by God as a 'judge' to deliver Israel during the period of the Judges as recorded in the book of that name. Specifically he attacked, with 300 men, a greatly superior force (numerically) of Midianites who had invaded the land of Israel. The account of Gideon is recorded in Judges chapters 6 through 8.
No, he tested God by asking to give him a sign because, he didn't believe he could take down the Israelite's enemy.
By: Atony427 Gideon is best known for being an average man chosen by God to do great things. As the story goes, he was working in a well when an angel of the Lord appeared to him. The angel told him that God had chosen him to fight a large army so that Israel may be saved. Gideon was hesitant and asked God to confirm this to him on two different occasions by giving him two clear signs. God gave him the signs and Gideon then obeyed God. God equipped him with an army of 300 men. This was a very small army, but since God was with them, they prevailed easily. Hope this helps. God Bless.
