Jesus said this because those who had put Him to death did not realize they were murdering God's own Son.

No. Only those who accept Jesus as their lord and savior.
No. The term "Christian" wasn't coined until after Jesus' ascension and the establishment of the church (Acts 11:26). Jesus called those who believed in Him "My disciples" (John 8:31 and others).

The scripture says that Jesus is a gift from God to humanity, given out of love and grace. Jesus is seen as the ultimate gift, offering salvation and eternal life to those who believe in him.
Jesus didn't speak about people 'becoming a Christian'. What he did say is that those who want to have eternal life should follow him. He also told his followers to baptise people and teach them everything he had taught them.
Jesus loved and still loves many things: his friends on earth eg. Lazarus, his earthly mother and father, his father God in Heaven. And today Jesus still loves all the people of the earth including the Romans who crucified him, the people who mock him, those who don't know anything about him, those who wonder who he is and those who have invited him to be their God. To say it simply, Jesus loves everyone!
The Bible does not say either of those things.
