In the Synoptic Gospels, the Passover feast was celebrated after sundown on the Thursday evening, as the new day (Friday) began in the Jewish calendar, and this was the occasion of the Last Supper. The crucifixion took place later the same day - the day of the Passover.
In John's Gospel, Jesus' crucifixion took place on the day of preparation for the Passover, and Jesus symbolised the sacrificial lamb whose legs could not be broken.
