Certainly all Buddhists do not believe this. There may be some Japanese Buddhists who think this.
Buddhists do care very much for the environment. The Earth is our mother and we rely on it for everything. Buddhists believe deeply that sentient beings are a part of the world, not masters of it or that we need to rise above it.

As the Buddha did not give any teachings on this (it was not a problem in his own time), no Buddhist can speak for others regarding this.
I don't think Buddhists like pollution at all. They believe in being good stewards to the earth and by polluting it, we aren't really doing our job properly.
