A:With one significant exception, Christians usually accept science as providing a reliable description of the physical world. Apart from a small group of Amish, they accept the technological benefits made possible by science.

The one significant exception is in the scientific understanding of the origins of the world and life on earth. Outside of the United States, scientific theories about the origin of the world and evolution of species are well accepted, although a minority of Christians disagree on part or all of this. Within the United States, a majority of Christians are reported to believe that science is wrong, and that the world and all living things were created in an act of special creation over a period of seven days, although some claim that the word 'day' need not mean 24 hours. The United States began to diverge from the wider view on creation and the origins of the world around the time of the First World War.
