What do people believe happens to them after death?

People will believe anything. This will range from going to heaven, being born again to getting 72 virgins in heaven. Be mindful though, these are beliefs and should not be mistaken with proved facts. We as humans cannot be 100% certain what happens when we die, because we honestly do not know. So since we have a gap in information we become afraid and fill it with religion or our own imagination.

• Abrahamic and Judaic systems believe that physical life is a onetime occurrence and that physical death is permanent. They believe that the soul is interrogated based on the dictates of their religious doctrine and assigned a permanent residence in Heaven or Hell based only on loyalty or disloyalty to their creed.

Hinduism along with some Asian systems believes that life and death is cyclic. They believe that personal positive or negative socio-cultural choices and actions are the primary factors that determine the progression or retrogression of a soul through various kinds of existence, rewards and penalties.

• Christians believe that they go to Heaven. Muslims have a similar belief.

• True Christians believe they go to heaven only if they have put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It is not an automatic thing. They must be born again spiritually. It is not based on good works, but on the redemptive work of Jesus Christ alone. We are saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Those who don't believe in God (atheist), believe they don't have a spirit that lives on after death. They simply cease to exist.

When you die your body get buried and your flesh dies but your spirit goes to God and he judges you according to your sin and sends you to heaven or hell depending if you have accepted Jesus as your lord and savior because Jesus saved you and all you have to do to is chose to follow him and accept him as your lord and savior (in order to go to heaven)

I personally believe that after death, you either go to hell or heaven, depending on if you had Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior or not. There is only ONE way to heaven and that's by Jesus because he died on the cross for us.

• Another viewpoint is that "heaven" and "hell" are metaphors for nearness or distance of the soul from God in the next life and not physical plains of existence. Since it's believed that ALL of humanity is God's creation, it seems illogical to believe that only one people will have God's blessings based on which of the divine Messengers they follow. What of the billions who lived before Jesus appeared on earth? or those since Jesus, but before modern times, who would never have heard of Him due to where they lived but who followed Another's teachings (e.g., Krishna, Zoroaster)? A comparative study of the world's major scriptures indicate that they all teach humanity the same basic spiritual truths.

Many believe that what awaits us is some form of reward or punishment, or both. Some believe that reward and/or punishment is based on our acceptance of the vicarious merits of a savior; others believe the reward and/or punishment is based on personal behavior. Others believe in some complex mix of the two.

• Many religions believe in some sort of afterlife - your soul will continue living. Details vary; some believe your soul will go into another body (reincarnation); some believe that your rotten body will awaken again at some future time; some believe that the soul leaves the body, and goes to another world, quite different than this one.

If you are an atheist you believe that when you die that is it.

If you are an agnostic you simply do not know what happens when you die.

If you have a faith then you believe that there is a continuity of being after death; this continuity of being may be reincarnation if you are a Buddhist or Hindu; or that you go to heaven if you are a Christian.

If they've been good they go to heaven, if they've been bad they end up in hell.

It depends on their religious belief.

Buddhists, Hindus and some Wiccan's believe that they are reborn according to their Karma.

Some other Wiccans and Pagans believe that they are taken to a heavenly place called the "Summer Lands" after this life, or put back to the earth to learn more.

Abrahamic believers (Catholic, Christian, Jewish and Muslim) that one has to face the Judgement before their God and decided to be put to either Heaven or Hell for the eternity, depending on their acts on the earth.

Atheists and Non-spiritual people believe that, once you die, that's the end, and there is nothing after the death, or Game Over.
