'Discipline' has to do with receiving 'counsel' (or guidance and direction).

Discipline could take the form of 'constructive criticism'; or it could go all the way to 'reproof' and perhaps a 'rebuke' with harsher words.

Discipline might even include a good 'beating' or 'spanking'; or it might include placing someone in a cage (prison).

Perseverance has to do with how we react to the counsel.Do we resent it and balk at it? Do we appreciate it and try to learn from it. Even if the discipline is in a stronger form, we could ENDURE it - - this is what perseverance means.

But perseverance includes enduring other discomforts and problems, including enduring how other people treat us, esp if unfairly.
