We have to remember also the scripture that says grace without works is dead, so considering both of those verses, we have to conclude that we need to work to be obedient and good, and spread God's gospel and God's love in the world... but even after all the things we can do, and although they really are important, The fact still remains that we can't make up the debt that we owe Christ, who died so that we could have the opportunity to repent and be saved.

In other words, we *should* do good works, but we can't save ourselves. Only God can save us.
