That depends on their gender, age, and interests. There are almost 14 million members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) worldwide, so there is no one thing you could buy to interest all of them! A 50 year old male will not want the same thing that a 6 year old girl will, no matter what their religion.

Here are some ideas of what most Mormons would definitely not be interested in:

-alcoholic drinks

-tobacco

-movies containing nudity, sex, excessive violence, gore, bad language, or evil themes

-music with raunchy lyrics or swearing

-bikini swimming suits

-sleeveless shirts or dresses

-taking them to get a tattoo or to a bar or club

-taking them to a concert, game, or meal on a Sunday

If you don't know this person very well, and therefore don't know their interests, my suggestion is some sort of treat! Almost everyone appreciates cookies!

A piece of material they like making there own clothes

How did Mormons celebrate special occasions?

This depends on the special occassion and the local culture and family traditions of the person. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) celebrate birthdays, Christian holidays, and national and local holidays. Their celebrations usually reflect was is typical of others in their nation or ethnic culture. For example, a Mormon birthday celebration in the United States will probably consist of family and friends gathering to give gifts, sing 'happy birthday' and the birthday person blowing out candles on a cake to make a wish. A Mormon Christmas celebration in the US will involve a Christmas tree, special meal, giving gifts, singing carols, and telling of the nativity story. Most, but not all, Mormon families choose to follow the Santa Claus tradition as well. A Mormon Easter celebration would involve the family going to church, discussing the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, eating a special meal, and dying eggs and egg hunts for the children. Most Mormon families follow the tradition of the Easter Bunny. In Mormon congregations, national holidays (such as the 4th of July) and Christian holidays (Easter and Christmas) are marked with sermons, lessons, and hymns special to that occassion.
