From the Rite of Confirmation:The bishop and the priests who will administer the sacrament with him lay hands upon all the candidates (by extending their hands over them). The bishop alone sings or says:
All-powerful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by water and the Holy Spirit you freed your sons and daughters from sin
and gave them new life.
Send your Holy Spirit upon them to be their Helper and Guide.
Give them the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of right judgment and courage,
the spirit of knowledge and reverence.
Fill them with the spirit of wonder and awe in your presence.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.The Anointing of Chrism
“The anointing with chrism and the accompanying words express clearly the effect of the giving of the Holy Spirit. Signed with the perfumed oil, the baptized receive the indelible character, the seal of the Lord, together with the gift of the Holy Spirit that conforms them more closely to Christ and gives them the grace of spreading ‘the sweet odor of Christ’” (Introduction 9).
The deacon brings the Chrism to the bishop. Each candidate goes to the bishop, or the bishop may go to the individual candidates. The one who presented the candidate places his right hand on the latter’s shoulder and gives the candidate’s name to the bishop; or the candidate may give his own name.
Bishop: Dips his right thumb in the Chrism and makes the sign of the cross on the forehead of the one to be confirmed, as he says: “(Name), be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Newly confirmed: Amen.
Bishop: Peace be with you.
Newly confirmed: And also with you.
The priest says, "This is my body" when blessing the bread and "This is my blood" when blessing the wine during the Eucharist.
The priest will say "be sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit" and the candidates will reply "Amen" :)
As they make the sign of the cross (as he blesses himself) he says: "In the name of the Father, the son and the Holy Spirit, amen."
The Bishop is a priest first, and continues to do all the things a priest does, thus he celebrates the Holy Mass, is the normal person who baptizes, counsels people, etc. In addition to all of those ceremonies, the bishop has a couple that are his alone: the Bishop is the usual minister for confirmation, a priest cannot confirm without the Bishop's permission. The Bishop blesses and consecrates the sacred oils during Holy Week, and it is he who consecrates and blesses Churches, altars, etc. But it is the Bishop alone who can ordain a priest or consecrate another Bishop (with the permission of the Holy Father).
Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Then the one being confirmed says: "Amen." Then the bishop will say: "Peace be with you." And the confirmande will say: "and with your spirit" while shaking the bishop's hand.
Priest or bishop
No. Usually it is a bishop, but a priest can do it too.
Communion or Confirmation
Red.
you have to be a priest or one of religious importance to do so, but they say prayers over the water and they believe that god himself blesses it.
it is an event where the priest blesses the holy Eucharist and gives it to those who attend the service!
Everything can be blessed by the priest. They blessed religious articles so that God will be present on it.
