Acts 5:30 says: "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.(KJV)" (John 8:54/Psalm 83:18) To get a proper understanding of this statement, it's good to read the surrounding scriptures.

Peter and John, in obedience to Jesus, were involved in preaching 'the good news of the kingdom' (Matthew 28:19+20/Matthew 24:14)when they were hauled in to face the Sanhedrin and told to 'stop preaching'(Acts 4:18/Acts 5:28). They refused, boldly promising to continue the work Jesus started(Acts 5:29):

"And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things..."(Acts 5:27-32)(Acts 4:13-21)

After Jesus was killed (on an instrument of torture (pole/stake/tree) and then resurrected to heaven, by his father(Acts 2:24), Peter and John faced the religious leaders in the Sanhedrin. The statement in the sited scripture, was Peter reminding the religious leaders of their responsibility in the death of Jesus (Matthew 16:16). On hearing this, they responded typically.(Acts 5:33)
