B.C. Stands for "Before Christ"
A.D. is Latin, it stands for Anno Domini, which translates to "The Year of our Lord."
They mean exactly the same thing. Whether you believe in Jesus Christ or not, AD and BC are a numbering methodology. That is, BC and AD were chosen around a specific event in a certain time - whether you believe that event happened or not, BC and AD still count from that time in history.
As a side note, "BC" and "AD" are slowly being replaced, in favor of "BCE" (Before Current Era) and "CE" (Current Era).
