You go into a private area with the priest and he will ask you some simple questions depending on your age. He will then ask you if you have anything you would like to confess. Simple put get off your chest and ask for forgiveness from God. He will then say some prayers and ask you to say certain prayers and tell you to go in peace. It's not as scary as some people make it out to be.
A confessional box is where the priest sits in and people make confession of their Sins.
You would need to discuss this with your priest in the confessional.
It means that whatever is said in the confessional can never be revealed to anyone and the priest is under a pain of autoexcommunication if he should ever violate the seal of the confessional.if anyone confesses their sins to a priest the priest is bound to not tell anyone, not even the police or other government authority.
Yes it is necessary. A priest can't "hear" his own confession. Even the Pope has to confess his sins to another priest.
As many as the priest tells you. But you wouldn't actually pray them in the confessional.
There is nothing saying that priests cannot be police officers. That said, there may be a conflict since they have sworn to keep the sanctity of the confessional. It is hard to know everyone's darkest secrets and to not use that information as a police officer. That could put such a priest in some legal trouble, if they are required to give information that their faith does not permit them to give.
"Confessional" from 1989!
First, there really isn't any way that the priest would know if you are or arent a catholic...its not something that they ask and if you do feel the need to tell the priest they would prolly ask you why you have chosen to come to confession and then go on like he would with anyone else. He asks what sins you have committed and forgives you for them...its not like he's going to kick you out of the confessional or anything.
The Confessional was created in 1994.
The duration of The Confessional is 1.67 hours.
To go to confession in the Catholic Church, you should first examine your conscience to reflect on your sins. Then, find a priest and go to the confessional or reconciliation room. Begin by making the sign of the cross and saying, "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned." Confess your sins honestly and sincerely, and listen to the priest's advice and penance. Finally, say an Act of Contrition to express your sorrow for your sins. The priest will then give you absolution, and you will be forgiven.
Dashboard Confessional was created in 1999.
