The Bible isn't a book of "magic spells," if that's what is being asked.

Regarding "protection" against "unclean spirits," however... the Bible provides the information that we need to know how to "fend off" this realm.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

"Therefore put on the full Armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

"Stand firm then, with the Belt of Truth buckled around your waist [thy Word is Truth - John 17:17],

"with the Breastplate of Righteousness in place [all thy Commandments are Righteousness - Ps.119:172],

"and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of Peace [the Good News of the Kingdom of God - Mark 1:14-15 & Isa.52:7].

"In addition to this, take up the Shield of Faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one [the surety of our Hope and Certainty of God's Promises - Heb.11:1].

"Take the Helmet of Salvation [our Hope in Christ - I Thess.5:8-9],

"and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God [full circle back to the Word of God, the Bible; God's "twoedged sword" - Heb.4:12. It is both the "offensive" and "defensive" Power of God.].

Again... the Bible isn't a book of magic spells. But it reveals the "Divine Knowledge" we need in our ongoing struggle to stand, in Christ, successfully against the spirit realm.

The spirit realm is not the "entertainment" this world makes it out to be. It's not funny... it's not to be trifled with... and it's not to be deliberately sought out.

"...let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your PROTECTION over them, that those who Love your Name may rejoice in you." (Ps.5:11-12 NIV)

If we're speaking of 'bad spirits' as in 'demons', any involvement with them, or the magical arts that came from them, was forbidden in the Bible(Deuteronomy 18:10-12/Exodus 22:18/Galatians 5:20/Revelation 22:15). Since the world we live in today, is under the control of Satan, at this point(1 John 5:19/1 Corinthians 10:20/1 Timothy 4:1/John 14:30/Ephesians 2:2), to protect ourselves (or RID ourselves)from 'bad spirits', we need to:

1. STUDY the Bible with a view to finding the truth and obeying it(/Acts 17:26+27/John 4:23/Psalm 119:105). Then, be vigilant in our proper worship of the creator; the God of the Bible. Simply 'believing' in God is not enough(James 2:19+26)we must 'subject ourselves' to God (James 4:7+8/Psalm 118:6+7/Matthew 4:1-10/ Deuteronomy 8:3) and he teaches us how to protect ourselves.(Ephesians 6:11-18/Acts 26:18)

2. PRAY for God's direction and protection(Matthew 6:9+13/Philippians 4:6+7). If we are seeking to please the true God, we can ask for his help(Luke 11:13/Proverbs 18:10/Psalm 91)

3. DESTROY anything we own having to do with spiritism (Acts 19:18-20); anything that might indicate to the demons that we have an interest in their occult world.

4. SEPARATE ourselves completely from any 'false religious' connections(2 Corinthians 6:17) because a person cannot serve TWO 'gods'(1 Corinthians 10:21/2 Corinthians 4:3+4/Matthew 6:24/1 Kings 18:21). When we are serving just the true God, he watches over us(John 17:15+16/Joshua 1:9/Psalm 27:14).

5. LIVE our lives to please the God of the Bible and adjust our thinking and conduct to reflect Jesus' example (Philippians 4:8+9/Galatians 5:22+23/Colossians 3:2/1 John 3:8), including the company we keep(1 Corinthians 15:33+34/James 4:4/1 John 2:15-17). Don't do anything that will align ourselves with Satan(John 8:44) but instead, love both God and neighbor(Matthew 22:37-39).

A THOUGHT:

Dealing with most problems in this world... including the "unseen" ones perpetrated by the spirit realm... Jesus tells us that it comes down to FAITH. Believing His Word. Trusting it. Trusting in Him.

"...the disciples asked Jesus privately, 'Why couldn't we cast out that demon?'

"'YOU DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH FAITH,' Jesus told them. 'I assure you, even if you had Faith as small as a Mustard Seed you could say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.'" (Matt.17:19-20 NLT New Living Translation)

I've never seen nor heard of such Faith demonstrated. I know I have no such Faith.

Since the Garden of Eden, when "that Old Serpent" [see Rev.12:9] planted the seed of distrust in the first two human hearts and minds regarding their relationship with their Creator [Jesus Christ - John 1:3] -- man's faith is most easily placed in that which he can see with his eyes.

In the early years of the church following Jesus' ascension into heaven and the first cases of the bestowing of the Holy Spirit upon His apostles at Pentecost... the strongest examples of miracles through Faith were displayed.

But in the ensuing centuries... widespread glowing examples of miracles and Faith the likes of those displayed by the early church have been on the decline. Indeed, Jesus Himself posed the question regarding the last days just before His return to earth with the Kingdom of God:

"...when I, the Son of Man, return, HOW MANY WILL I FIND WHO HAVE FAITH?" (Luke 18:8 NLT)

Today, the mere "belief" in the existence of demons is denied by the world... including the medical profession [in which modern men have placed their faith and trust] that treats the symptomsof demon possession in people with mind-altering drugs, and curing very little; instead of with the Faith of Jesus Christ to CAST THEM OUT of a person.

As described above... the first cure for "bad spirits" is NOT TO INVITE THEM IN IN THE FIRST PLACE. If God is calling you... develop that intimate relationship with Him [praying always] to keep such spirits far from you.

The next cure... should bad spirits be contacted and contracted... is to have the Faith and Power of God dwelling within you to call upon Him to remove them. Which, according to Jesus' end-time query, may well have become a lost art in these last days among His elect.

"Mental disorder" is a great "incurable" malady suffered by man today [incurable with "mind-altering drugs," that is]. Our mental well-being is a "spiritual entity." Which is the realm of the "spirit world." It goes unrecognized by the governments and the medical profession for what it truly is... negative unfluences by unclean [bad] spirits upon the human mind and condition... by FAITHLESS men in a FAITHLESS world.

"For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who RULE THIS WORLD, and against WICKED SPIRITS in the heavenly realms." (Eph.6:12 NLT)

For all that -- man still can't "get rid of bad spirits" -- even with the Faith of God. The bad spirits Jesus cast out centuries ago from all those people in that generation DIDN'T DIE! Those demons lived on in other people and things of succeeding generations. They're still alive today... still plaguing the world, still influencing the thoughts and decisions of spiritually-blinded and deceived men. The world remains "subject" to them.

"...the FUTURE WORLD we are talking about WILL NOT BE CONTROLLED BY ANGELS." (Heb.2:5 NLT)

But, until Christ returns and "gets rid" of them and their influence from affecting the nations of the world:

"...He seized the Dragon - that Old Serpent, the Devil, Satan - and bound him in chains for a thousand years... so Satan could not deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years were finished..." (Rev.20:2-3 NLT)...

...those "bad spirits" are here to stay and have to be dealt with, individually, by God's servants through the Power and Faith of God. But, according to Bible prophecy, the world will continue to faithlessly ignore their existence -- and be "subject" to them.

"...three evil spirits... caused ALL THE RULERS OF THE WORLD to gather for battle against the Lord on that Great Judgment Day of God Almighty... and they gathered all the rulers and their armies to a place called ARMAGEDDON in Hebrew." (Rev.16:13-16 NLT)
