What does the Bible say about the behavior of women?

I don't believe The Bible states that the woman has any particular role apart from loving and serving God. 1Corinthians has a laundry list of descriptions of how might a woman dress or act or wear her hair, but these suggestions are pretty much common sense as are the recommendations for a man's role. The bible says there really is no difference in His eyes between a man or a woman, we are all equal.

In the Bible, everyone has their place in life(Colossians 3:18-25). Because Adam was formed first, then Eve, men are to take a loving lead in the congregation, as in life, as they imitate Christ(1 Corinthians 11:2-3 / 1 Timothy 3:1-13 / Ephesians 5:25+28), and women are to be in subjection with deep respect, behaving and dressing in a dignified manner, trustworthy and busy in good works, including getting baptized and preaching OUTSIDE the congregation. Here are some scriptures that define a woman's role:

(1 Peter 3:1-6) "Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear. However, specifically for women, it's a 'quiet and mild spirit' that is of great value to God(1Peter 3:4). According to the scriptures below, women are to strive to have reverence for God, be honest, sober, hard working, serious minded, not gossips, but teachers of what is good, self controlled, pure, busy at home, kind, gentle, known for doing good for others, decent, proper,

modest,

respectable, attractively dressed but not distracting, and

respectful of their husband's headship in the family

, so as not to bring reproach on God.
**Titus 2:3-5 Older women should: "... not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.

Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,

to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God".(NIV)

**1 Peter 3:3-6 continues: "

Do not adorn yourselves outwardly by braiding your hair, and by wearing gold ornaments or fine clothing;

rather, let your adornment be the

inner self

with the lasting beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight.

It was in this way long ago that the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves by accepting the authority of their husbands.

Thus Sarah obeyed Abraham and called him 'lord'. ..."(NRSV)

**At 1 Timothy 2:8-10, Paul writes : "I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,

but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

**And within the Christian congregation, 1 Timothy 2:11-13 says: "A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.

I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.

In I Timothy 2:11- 13 the Apostle Paul give us the woman's place in the church. There are many who have drifted away from this teaching, but that does not nullify the Word of God. Women can have a ministry in the church, in teaching other women and children as well as personal evangelism and other duties within the church. Women have made much progress over the years and some speak well and have knowledge, but God did not mean for women to preach or usurp the male.

I Timothy 2:11-14. A woman is to learn in silence while in the church. She is forbidden to teach or usurp authority over men. This would also pertain to a woman wanting to be a preacher, as a pastors main duty is to preach and teach the word of God in the church. A woman may teach other women and small children. A woman who preaches and teaches, especially to men are violating God's word. Yes this is the 21st century, but the Bible (God's Word) is forever.
