The effect of belief in Karma on the life of a Hindu would depend on what he means by Karma.

1. The Conventional Karma:

A Hindu would believe that Karma means deed and good Karma means good deed. Good deed means a deed acceptable to people with higher Varnas. If he can do good deeds without ever doing a bad deed till his death, his next generation would be entitled to use a higher Varna.

2. The Original Karma:

A Hindu may realize the origianl meaning of Karma. He may start believing that Karma actually means the way in which Moving and Braking forces of thoughts and activities can be linked.

Then he would know that there are four different ways in which the two can be linked. Then, he would be able to attain Original Moksha and have all the four Varnas and thus have Brahma Jnana, the supreme knowledge a human being can have.

Where are the effects of kamma or karma stored?

I heard a monk from the Tibetan traditions teach from scriptures that - by and large Karma is not stored in the mind, any disturing emotions we feel are not in themselves Karma but our reaction to Karma. Karma is the effect of an action, an action of body, speech or mind. Based on basic Buddhist teaching Karma is the result of what we think say and do. The effect of Karma is in essence everything we see around us but not how we react to what we see around us, that is the start of the creation of new Karma.

Difference between karma and dharma?

Karma is the law of cause and effect. Many people think that Karma means that if you are mean to others, you will suffer bad luck in the future. This is a gross simplification of the way Karma effects our lives, but it is sufficient for a short answer. Dharma refers to the underlying order of the cosmos, and is often used to mean "the way"or "the path", meaning the right way to live and study to achieve lasting happiness.

How does karma affect your caste?

Reincarnation happens only because of Karma, the moment there is no Karma there is no reincarnation. The goal of our life is to transcend Karma, to go beyond Karma. As long as we think we are the body, the mind and ego that does action, we take ownership of our actions, there is Karma and as long as there is Karma good or bad, we will come back to earth. Heaven or hell is not somewhere in the skies. It is on earth when we take rebirth. Therefore if there is no Karma, there is no reincarnation. Reincarnation is proof of Karma and Karma is proof of reincarnation.
