The 'original' stone tablets, written by God, were destroyed, when Moses threw them to the ground, after seeing the nation of Israel involved in false worship(Exodus 32:15-19)(Deuteronomy 10:1-4). The second set of tablets, called
The Testimony" (Exodus 34:29)were kept in the Ark of the Covenant at the Tabernacle(Exodus 40:20, 21)(1 Kings 8:9)(2 Chronicles 5:10), and eventually at Solomon's Temple (1 Kings 6:19). The Ark and it's contents are believed to have disappeared before the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem in 607BCE, because it was not mentioned among the objects taken at the time(2 Kings 25:13-17).
