What happens to your soul if you don't believe in heaven or hell?

If the person is right then it does not matter, there is no heaven or hell so the soul dies with the body and he ceases to exist.

If the person is wrong, then he goes to hell for failing to accept God's redemption.

The answer to this question depends on how it is read:

What will happen after death if you do not believe in God.

We do not actually know.

What will happen on Earth if you do not believe in God.

This entirely depends on the country. In many places in Western Europe, a large percentage of the people do not believe in God. Atheism is an acceptable practice and there are numerous openly Atheist politicians in Western European countries. However, religions are tolerated in Western Europe. Nothing happens to you here.

In some places, like China, fervent monotheistic faith can result in personal sanctions or imprisonment, especially if your faith is "universal" like Catholicism or "not recognized" like Judaism. There are also countries where monotheism is rare and seen as wrong, but still tolerated. Thailand is an example of this view. In those countries, it is a benefit to not be monotheistic.

There are some countries where atheism has negative repercussions, like the United States. Although Atheists still have all of their rights as citizens, they face workplace discrimination and are seen as amoral by a large religious segment of the population.

There are also countries where Atheism is de facto or de jure illegal. In more religious Muslim countries and religious African Christian countries, it is acceptable to beat, attack, and sometimes even kill individuals who do not believe in God (and make this belief explicit). Many Atheists have equated the situation in these countries to the situation faced by homosexuals in the same areas. "Coming Out" is dangerous.
