In cases where Jewish men weren't circumcised because of government persecution (former USSR), as soon as they reached a country with religious freedom, they had their circumcision done. Obviously, it's much easier to do this as a baby than a grown man.

Good question! You need to talk to him about it. If he doesn't want to get circumcised, break up with him and find a circumcised Jewish man. However, it depends on the reason as to why he isn't circumcised. If the reason he isn't circumcised is because he was born in the former USSR where circumcision was banned, exceptions were made for those who chose not to be circumcised after they had the opportunity.

If this is a major issue for you, you may want to speak to your rabbi. In truth, less than 5% of Jewish men worldwide are not circumcised so it's not a common issue.

Although circumcision isn't required to become a Jew if a male is born to a Jewish mother, it is absolutely required to participate in Jewish life. Jewish males are prohibited from participating in most holidays and ceremonies if they are not circumcised.

This being said, a small fringe group of non-religious Jews are choosing to not circumcise their male children.
