What is God's punishment for people who sin?

Banishment

Genesis, Chapter 3, Verses 21-24:

21The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. 22And the Lord God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." 23So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24After he drove the man out, he placed of the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

God gave Adam and Eve everything they could ever want for a happy and everlasting life on a paradise earth(Genesis 2:16-18)(Genesis 1:28), but warned them right up front that if they disobeyed his guidelines, they would die(Genesis 2:17). This was not a surprise.

When they chose to turn away from God, He responded by allowing what he said would happen. No longer perfect, they lost their relationship with God, and died within one of God's days (Genesis 5:5)(2 Peter 3:8).

According to the biblical evidence... Lucifer was the FIRST to sin, thus becoming the "father" [or originator] of sin, as well as God's "adversary" [Satan].

"...When he [Satan the Devil] lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and THE FATHER OF LIES." (John 8:44 NLT New Living Translation)

Satan manifested this "original sin" in a coup attempt on God's throne in heaven, to take over rulership of the universe and God's creation.

"For you said to yourself, 'I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God's stars[angels; see Rev.1:20]... I will climb to the highest heavens and be LIKE THE MOST HIGH.'" (Isa.14:13-14 NLT)

God responded to Satan's original sin by FIGHTING HIM!

"Then there was war in heaven. Michael and the angels under his command fought the Dragon and his angels. And the Dragon lost the battle and was forced out of heaven. This great Dragon - the ancient serpent called the Devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world - was thrown down to the earth with all his angels." (Rev.12:7-9 NLT)

God further responded by putting Satan and his angels under a "spiritual condition of restraint" on the earth and appointed a set time of JUDGMENT on the Last Day of His plan for their trial.

"For God did not spare even the angels when they sinned; He threw them into hell* [tartarus; a condition of restraint], in gloomy caves and darkness until the Judgment Day." (II Peter 2:4 NLT)

"And I remind you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them but left the place where they belonged. God has kept them chained in prisons of darkness, waiting for the Day of Judgment." (Jude 1:6 NLT)

So, God... in response to sin... "set a future time" on the Last Day of the plan He has devised, to bring all sin into Judgment. It's a plan that includes the creation of His Family of Immortal Children through mankind, "created in His image."

And a vital part of that plan is to "allow the original sinners" [Satan and his angels] that allotted period of time in the plan, TO TEACH MANKIND ALL ABOUT THE DEPTHS AND THE HORRORS OF SIN!

And for that to happen... it became necessary for man to be led into sin by Satan and his angels. Because God's Children couldn't be made Perfect in Character, until they experienced both sides of "good and evil" -- and made a choice of their own free will which one they would embrace.

So, "in response to man's subsequent sin" through Satan's deception... God planned to provide for His Children A WAY TO BE REDEEMED FROM THE SIN man had to experience and learn about -- by showing them His LOVE:

"This is My Commandment to you, to LOVE ONE ANOTHER as I have Loved you. NO ONE HAS GREATER LOVE THAN THIS - A MAN LAYING DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS. You are My friends, IF YOU DO WHAT I COMMAND YOU." (John 15:12-14 WEY Weymouth's New Testament)

God's response to man's sin was to provide man a way to REDEEM HIM BACK... by DYING FOR HIS CHILDREN! By shedding His own Divine Blood in payment for sin's purging.

"...Christ... once and for all entered the Holy Place [heaven, the throne of His Father], taking with Him not the blood of goats and calves, but HIS OWN BLOOD, and thus procuring Eternal Redemption for us." (Heb.9:11-12 WEY)

"...apart from the outpouring of blood there is no remission of sins." (verse 22)

That was God's response to sin. That's what He has done... and it's what He is still doing -- until the Last Great Day of His plan, THE TRIAL, when the Judgments will be handed down.

"...Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and on the third day rise again from among the dead; and that proclamation would be made, IN HIS NAME, of Repentance[being sorry for having sinned; disobeyed the Creator] and Forgiveness of Sins to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem." (Luke 24:46-47 WEY)

God's response to sin, was to TRAIN UP JUDGES... HIS OWN CHILDREN... who were exercised, trained, tested and redeemed from sin... to attend to the upcoming trial:

"Do you not know that GOD'S PEOPLE WILL SIT IN JUDGMENT OF THE WORLD?... Do you not know that WE ARE TO SIT IN JUDGMENT UPON ANGELS?..." (I Cor.6:2-3 WEY).

God responded to sin as only God can -- Righteously and with Equity. His plan is still in the works, with the allotted time winding down to that Last Day. And His will will be done [on earth as it is in heaven].
