Roman Catholic AnswerOne of the three holy oils that the Bishop blessed at the Chrism Mass during Holy Week for the whole diocese for the whole year. The Oil of Catechumens is used in the ceremonies of baptism (from which it takes its name). It is also used in the consecration of churches, in the blessing of altars, ordination of priests, and has been used in the coronation of Catholic monarchs.
