Disbelief in a personal God does not necessarily make someone into a follower; who do you think such people are following? I suppose one might be a follower of Richard Dawkins. But lots of people have arrived at such conclusions on their own.

Spinoza and Einstein did not believe in a personal God. Spinoza was a Pantheist, and Einstein admired Spinoza's god as metaphor for the laws of nature. Deism was popular and widespread in the 17th century. The Pantheist's god as metaphor for natural law, and the Deist non-interventionist god, were both impersonal. So Pantheists and Deists, and a few others, are followers of impersonal gods.
