Godparents are there simply to reinforce the teachings of the parents and their promise to bring up the child in the way of Christ. The godparents are like teachers, supporting the parents in what they do, but the real task of bringing children to Christ rests with the parents.
the god parents
=== === === ===No it is not the symbol of Baptism!
To be a god parent in a catholic community the willing god parents must of had their confirmation already to be a godparent for the baptism.
A symbol of baptism is water.
The Dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit that is used in baptism.
The priest, of course, the god parents, the parents, the baby getting baptised, other family and that's about it unless you're do it during a regular mass then you have all people in the church.
Infant baptism symbolizes exactly the same as what adult baptism symbolizes: new life, forgiveness of sins and the acceptance of Christ as your Lord and savior. Parents are instructed to help their children to love, honor and obey God. Infant baptism shows that the parents are prepared to bring their child up in God's way and to guide him/her as a child of Christ until he/she is able to make his/her own decision to follow Christ.
