The primary elements behind the migratory spread of the various dominant religions were economic, intellectual and military superiority. People usually imitate the activities and practices of those who they consider to be better or superior to them. It is a quality that is present in most societies where the popular or affluent individuals influence the choices and behaviors of those who revere them. It is a quality which can also be found among animal groupings. Those people who were perceived as the most intelligent, wealthy and powerful were able to manipulate susceptible individuals to swear allegiance to their particular set of values or religion. There was a significantly smaller influence which was derived from the notion that if people are superior to you in wealth, intelligence and power then their God had so blessed them and therefore theirs is the superior religion.
