What is holispirituality?
Holispirituality is a creative-integrative approach to Christian practices and traditions and derives its ultimate inspiration from the Trinitarian mystery -- unity and integrity amidst relational diversity and complexity. It faithfully adheres to the core tenet of authentic Christianity, while simultaneously opens up to the inescapable human dynamism of change and progress and strives to keep abreast with the subtle signs of the times without losing the unique Christian identity. The word comes from the blending of the concepts whole or holistic and spirit or Spirit. To be holy is to be one or whole or holi in the Spirit. Holiness is an assimilation process of restoring the divinely-ordained human nature's pristine state of wholeness or integrity that was shattered by the myriad of human brokenness in the spiritual sense. The opposite of holiness is sinfulness.Indeed, holiness is a pure gift from God through the Spirit. Holinity is the complementary human response to God's grace of holiness and spiritual promptings: "Be perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect." Holiness is God's grace and gift.Holinity is a natural human intention and freedom toward holiness or perfection. It is a state of natural pre-disposition or attraction to the greatest Good, to be the best as humanity can be -- to be Holi.Holinity is the human image and likeness of everything divine. It is the fruits of divine love and initiative in the sphere of human freedom and efforts. It is goodness, well-being, and everything that is authentically good in the human as a reflection of divine grace.Holispirituality, thus, aspires for holinity as natural response to grace in the ageless mystery of drawing out the best from humanity, in freedom, toward the ultimate possibilities, to be liberated from, to be whole for, to be intimate or one or Holi with the Holy. The grace of holiness is indeed a gift, yet paradoxically and concretely builds on the good elements of human nature, on holinity, guiding its growth toward holiness or perfection in God.Please visit: www.holispirituality.org
