AnswerLife and death for humans are essentially the same as life and death for other mammals and even lower creatures. A female egg is fertilised by a male, passing on DNA to create a new living organism which grows and lives to procreate and die in turn. During this process the living organism has the opportunity to enjoy life and, at least for higher animals, help its fellows. If we do not believe that lower animals have souls, there is no intrinsic reason to believe that humans do.
Life is whenever a body has energy and intelligence to respond to stimuli and Death is the absence of this energy and intelligence to respond. The true meaning of life is to make babies and eventually die, nothing more, nothing less.
