God asks Church members give 10% percent of their wages to the Church as a way of giving it to God. This is called a tithe. Literally translated "tithe" means "tenth" Anything above and beyond the 10% tithe is called an offering. This is simply choosing to give money to God because you want to.
It is called tithing; one gives a tithe to the church.
In the offering if you have one
While it's fine and good to contribute to the church if your heart and understanding leads you to do so, there's no reason whatsoever to give money to the church specifically for baptizing.

The money you give to the church has nothing to do with God, or how He views you. Your donation is simply to maintain the church. God will give unlimited to you if you let him into your life. No matter how much money you have and give.

The money is generally used to help the poor.
There are a number of reasons why we give money to the church. To pay for its upkeep, to pay for the services of the leaders and another is perhaps the most important and that is to feed the poor and hungry. If you are in a situation where you are in need of food and sustenance then the church will assist you in your need, not in a monetary handout but in goods and kind. This is not money laundering, but a genuine need to keep body and soul together.
