God loves mankind so much that He gave them a heads up on the laws that govern life (He created a Universe which has meaning and purpose and is thus guided by Laws - there are physical, social or judicial, and spiritual laws). Sin is described as a transgression or violation of those laws. Take gravity for example...Thou shalt not walk off the edge of the Skyscrapper, for in the day do though shalt surely die! Or the Love of your Mom...Thou shalt not run out into the street without holding an adults hand for in the day that thou doest this thou shalt surely be smashed and broken by some unaware motorist!

This is exactly the nature od the Lord's commands...an attempt spare you the inevitable consequence of a foolish or rash choice...it is not to be mean or to spoil your fun...it is meant to optimize a blessed and successful life.

Now all we since Adam and Eve sin either because we are persuaded (like Eve) or because we are idiots like Adam (who knew the word of Daddy and disobeyed anyway). So we are all guilty of sin from pretty early in life. Unfortunately the consequence of violating the spiritual laws (God's love letter, the Commandments) is like gravities physical death only it is spiritual death (eternal spearation from God and all that He might provide...light, cool comfort, fellowship with others, water, food, touch, are all things He created). So if you have rejected God and want nothing to do with Him (so you can be your own lord) you will get your way...it is called Hell! Now God does not want you to go there although you definitely are at this point, so He sent you a net to catch you...to save you...and that net promised since Genesis 3:15 is the redeemer who would pay the price or wages due sin that you owed...the Savior is sent to commute your sentence in Hell...(John 3:3-8; Acts 2:38 because Romans 6:23).

In otherwords, you do not go to hell for not believeing in God or not accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior...you are already going to hell...believing God (not just "in") and accepting His Christ (Isaiah 53) is how you avoiod going there so you can live and be with others who love you for eternity....

That is the message of The Bible...God so loved the world that He GAVE His Son...all you are to do is have faith (to believe...which means to Trust in, Rely on, and Cleave to Him)
