The Word of Wisdom is a health code for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints set forth in Doctrine and Covenants 89. It states that we should eat:
Wholesome herbs, including fruits
Meat (but sparingly and only in times of winter, cold, or famine)
Grain (wheat is specifically mentioned)
The Word of Wisdom says that we should not eat or drink:
Wine or other strong drinks
Tobacco
Hot drinks
Church leaders have since clarified that "hot drinks" refers to coffee and tea. Illegal drugs have also been added to the list of proscriptions. The Word of Wisdom was originally issued as good counsel, "not by commandment nor constraint". However, it has since been applied as a commandment and a temple worthiness requirement.
