Christians see the comparison as positive - sheep are cared for by the shepherd (god) and wander the hills eating grass. They are passive and happy. A life of ease without care or concern.
To more skeptical types it is different. Being the sheep isn't as good as modern (non-farming Christians) seem to think:
Even more amusing, the incidence of homosexuality among sheep is about 10%, about the same as that in humans (even Christians). Many see this as another of the Bible's little hidden jokes.
Christians
God refers to Christians as sheep because he refers to himself as the shepherd. He calls himself the shepherd because he watches after everyone (i.e., sheep).
Christians do not believe animals have any unique powers and only uses these farming animals as metaphors.
Because they are feared of not going to heaven therefore they act like the sheep and christians will follw jesus as a role model because he is more like the sheep.
A 'black sheep' is an outcast, or outsider, in a social group. For instance, consider a stereotypical family. Mom, Dad, Daughter, Son. All of these people are Christians, go to church on a regular basis, pay taxes, etc. The son goes away to college, and comes back an Atheist. The rest of his family remains devout Christians. In religious terms, he could be the "black sheep" of the family. Simply put: Sheep are white. Black sheep aren't. They're different from the normal.
Goats and sheep both belong to the same family, Bovidae, but are classified into different genera. Goats belong to the genus Capra, while sheep belong to the genus Ovis. They have different physical characteristics and behavioral traits, with goats generally being more curious and independent compared to sheep.
As all sheep know the sound of the shepherds voice, they come to him when he calls them. We are like sheep and come to Christ who is our shepherd, when He calls us we go to Him, or follow Him so that we might be kept save in the sheepfold.
Islam dose not want iltimate athourtiy whoever told you that is nuts:)
The sense of smell is more important as a protective and food-getting sense in sheep. Sheep rely heavily on their sense of smell to detect predators, identify food sources, and navigate their environment. In comparison, humans rely more on their vision and hearing for protection and obtaining food.
A cow heart weights about 5 pounds in a normal situation. By comparison, a human heart and the heart of a sheep weighs about 1 pound.
The story of the lost sheep teaches Christians about God's love and care for every individual, no matter how lost or insignificant they may seem. It emphasizes the importance of seeking out those who have strayed and rejoicing upon their return, reflecting God's desire for all to be reconciled to Him.
As of 2023, there are more Christians in the world than any other religious group, with estimates suggesting around 2.3 billion Christians globally. In comparison, the total number of non-Christians, which includes adherents of other religions and those who identify as non-religious or atheists, is roughly comparable in number but varies widely depending on definitions and demographics. Thus, while Christians represent the largest single religious group, non-Christians collectively outnumber them when combined.
