There is no inherent difference between Christianity and science. If read literally, The Bible can certainly be seen as anti-science, but since the very earliest days of Christianity leaders such as Origen have insisted that the literal reading of biblical texts was not necessarily to be accepted.
The Church has gone through periods of opposing scientific views about the nature of the universe and the evolution of species, but all major denominations now accept that these scientific theories can be compatible with Christian beliefs.
Religion can exist by faith alone and does not require proofs. Science requires proofs.
