Rangi (the Sky Father) and Papatuanuku (Earth Mother) were the parents of the eight major Maori Gods; Tumatauenga -- God of War Tawhirimatea -- God of Weather Tane-Mahuta-- God of the Forests Tangaroa -- Sea God Rongo -- God of Peace / Cultivated plants Haumia-Tiketike -- God of wild plants Rehua -- Antares (Star) Raumoko -- God of Earthquakes.
