The Golden Rule: Love God with all your heart soul and mind and love your neighbor as yourself.
Christ taught that love fulfils the Old Testament law.
in the bible God speaks to his disciples, he gives commandments, if we obey his commandment we shall follow Christ
Most scholars say that it is the basis for all of God's laws for the Jews during the time of Moses and until Christ came. In a sense, it shows God's nature and what he wants from man. The commandments direct people in not only what God wants for man, but what is best for man as well. It is interesting to note that all of the commandments found in the Old Testament are also found in the New Testament, except for "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy".
The Ten Commandments are important because they are the laws God handed down to Moses on Mt. Sinai. The Old Testament had over 600 laws, but after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Ten Commandments in the New Testament were the new laws for us to live by.
The only "Law" Christ talked about in the New Testament was The Ten Commandments. He said John 14:21 "He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him." He also said that as Christians we are to hold ourselves to a stricter version of them. For example, One commandment is - Thou shalt not commit adultery. Jesus said that even looking at the opposite sex and lusting after them is a sin. To be honest he didn't spend much time on the law in the new testament.
By entering the flock or fold, or joining the true Church of Christ. Keep and obey the commandments of God. The greatest commandment: Love God with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your soul. Second greatest commandment: Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Another important commandment: Obey your parents, unless what they tell you to do is against the Will of God. Always pray. Have faith. Do good deeds. Love like Christ does. Forgive. Understand. And submit your heart to God. Best wishes to you.
Jesus Christ promised Heaven repeatedly throughout the New Testament to those who believe in Him and follow His commandments. Those who believe that Jesus Christ is God, know that He would not promise anything that isn't real.
Jesus Christ answers for us. When asked the question, "Which is the greatest commandment in the law?" he answered: "'You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. The second, like it, is this: 'You must love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments the whole Law hangs, and the Prophets." (Matt. 22:35-40, NW)
The New Testament can be described as The New Law as The Old Testament is to The Old Law. Christ brought a new law with Him which was to replace the old law as taught in the Old Testament. He taught that He was the Christ, the son on a living God. He also gave new commandments which the people were to live by doing away with the old, such as An eye for an eye. He taught that we were to love those who did harm to us and to love our neighbour as ourselves. He gave us the ten commandments and taught us how to pray. To go the extra mile when the need arose. He taught that everyone would be resurrected.
This answer is from the Christian belief system: The two tablets inscribed with the 10 commandments was given to Moses by God on the mountain. These were then stored in the Ark of the covenant. The Christian 10 commandments are as stated in the old testament from this story. The Old testament is based on the Torah and forms the basis of Jewish Law Christ (the son of God) simplified the commandments to two thus:- "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." In other words, if you follow these two commandments, you will never do what the rest tell you not to do. This is what Christians believe.
He looks for faith, for without faith it is impossible to please him, (Hebrews 11.6). He also looks to us to keep his commandments; particularly his new commandment in John 13.34- A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Not only were they to tesify of the coming of a Savior, but until the people could learn to live the High Commandments which would be given by Christ, they were given the law of Carnel Commandments to live by. All books were to prepare the people for that which was to come.
