Nominally Jesus Christ. The Pope is the head of the Roman Catholic Church. The British monarch (the king or queen) is the nominal head of the Anglican and Episcopal Churches, but the Archbishop of Centerbury is the effective head. The head of the Orthodox Churches is the Ecumenical Patriarch (who is considered "first among equals"). Other denominations are headed by a chairman, a president, or a council. Individual churches are headed by their pastor, or pastors, or church council.
