The book known as Song of Songs or Song of Solomon is a book about sexual love. Bishop Robinson says that for centuries many people were so afraid of this poem's uninhibited glorification of sexual love that they thought it had to be an allegory for something else, but it is quite simply what it appears to be - a lyric rhapsody concerning the love of a man and a woman, with sexual desire an obvious and natural expression of that love.
