As mentioned in Galatians 5:20, "variance" (Greek eris) means, "contention, strife, wrangling."
One View:The wrong way would be: 'to follow your heart' & 'to follow your flesh'.The Bible occasionally refers to the 'heart' in a figurative way; as if it had a mind of its own. The Bible states that our 'heart' can be a deceptive little thing. It may wish to please God, and do what is right; but it works in conjunction with 'the flesh'. The 'flesh' may desire something which Jehovah God has determined is wrong. The 'mind/brain' knows right from wrong, by having read the Bible. So the 'flesh' -- needs 'the heart' to force 'the mind' to work for the flesh; to find a loophole; to figure out something that makes allowance for the wrongdoing. One should put full trust in God's requirements, that they are indeed righteous. This is the best way to follow; you can't hardly go wrong.
The root of sin is man's disobedience to God's command in the garden of Eden, which disobedience we all inherit from our first father, Adam. The fruit of sin, which the Bible calls,'the works of the flesh', are these - Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
(Galatians 5:19-21) Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are fornication, uncleanness, loose conduct, idolatry, practice of spiritism, enmities, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, contentions, divisions, sects, envies, drunken bouts, revelries, and things like these. As to these things I am forewarning YOU, the same way as I did forewarn YOU, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom.
In Galatians chapter 5 Paul contrasts walking in the Spirit and walking in the flesh - the works of the flesh and the works of the spirit. The spirit is the Holy Spirit God gives to believers the flesh is the believers old or sin nature. Paul says in V19 that the things the human nature does are quite plain and he then goes on to list some examples of 'works' or deeds done by a person who is controlled by their flesh or sin nature.
The word "works" is in the King James Version of the Bible 237 times. It is in 224 verses.
The bible says you must show your good works so all can glorify god.
There is a list in Galatians of the fruits of the Spirit and of the works of the flesh for you to compare: Galatians 5.22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23. Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5.19. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20. Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21. Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. You can see plainly how different they are!
There is no research which indicates a variance in food related to blood type. To lose weight you should follow a standard diet.
The Bible says nothing about this; only listing it amongst other evil works of the flesh. From a dictionary you may find out what it means. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: (Colossians 3.5) For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience (Colossians 3.6)
