Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called "Mormons") have a strong sense of community. Mormons do not live together in communal societies (i.e. on a compound), but gather often and serve one another. A local congregation is called a "ward". Wards usually hold many activities throughout the week including worship and Sunday School on Sunday, daily seminary classes for high school students, youth group activities, scouting troops, and women's and men's groups. Wards also host service projects, youth camps, retreats and conferences, dances, fellowship dinners and activities, genealogy libraries and sports/recreation groups. Members of the ward are all expected to contribute to operate these programs, as well as support one another in times of need. This creates a very strong sense of community and many Mormons consider their ward a second family.Mormons also find community with other church members outside of their local congregation. This sense of community comes from a combination of shared morals and experiences and unique religious beliefs and practices.

Businesses owned by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) financially support the owners and their families. Most Mormons choose to pay a tithe to the Church, which is 10% of their income. In that way, some profits of Mormon-owned businesses support the Church. Many Mormons own business that cater to the Mormon culture and community. These include things like modest clothing shops, food-storage and emergency prepardeness supplies, and religious books and music with Mormon themes. Check out the "related links" below for examples of Mormon-owned businesses that cater to the Mormon community. The Mormon Church itself doesn't really own any for-profit businesses, except for a few restaurants in Salt Lake City and a local newsmedia outlet. Most of their for-profit ventures are in real estate.

The word Mormon comes from the Book of Mormon, which members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a few other denominations (such as the Community of Christ and the Apostolic United Brethren) use as scripture alongside the Bible. No. Fess Parker was famous for being a wine maker. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) do not drink, sell, or produce alcoholic beverages. You may have assumed that Fess Parker was Mormon because he was born on a farm near San Angelo, Texas, and there is a Fundamentalist LDS community near there. This FLDS community was formed in about 2004, 80 years after Fess Parker was born. The FLDS community is also not associated in any way with the mainstream Mormon church… they broke off from the Mormon church over 120 years ago in 1890.
