Deut 1:5 says it is an 'explanation' of the laws given in the previous books.FYI: the word 'love' is in Deuteronomy more than 5 times as often than in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, combined.Oh, by the way, in case you're wondering; it's the 5th book in the Bible.

The LDS (Mormon) Church is considered a "true" church in the sense that it is recognized as a church if that is your question. As to the question of "if" it is the true church, that is a personal question for each person. The members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints believe it to be the true church. The LDS Church is a Christian church in that it believes in God and Jesus Christ. It also believes in the Bible. The LDS Church does have The Book of Mormon which is a complement to the Bible, it stands as another testament to Jesus Christ. It neither adds or takes away from the Bible. In fact, when John wrote the passage in Revelations about adding or taking away, many of the books of the New Testament had not been written yet and the collections of the books in the Bible did not happen until a later time. So when John wrote this statement, he was talking about the writings in Revelations. Moses also stated the same thing as John in Deut. 4:2 and Deut. 12:32 which was written thousands of years before the time of the New Testament. These state that no man should add or take away, but can God add teachings and scripture? This is what the LDS Church believes is that Joseph Smith only translated The Book of Mormon from another society on another continent that testifies of Christ and that God directed the making of it, making it a work of God, translated by man.
